PD Dr. rer. nat. habil. Maja-Theresa Dieterlen is a biologist and Head of the Basic Science Research Laboratory of the University Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Leipzig Heart Center. She graduated from the Leipzig University in 2003 with a diploma in Biology. Between 2004 and 2009, she pursued her doctoral degree at the Leipzig University. She obtained her doctoral degree with a dissertation on the topic “Use of human neural precursor cells as an innovative vector in gene therapy”. She joined the Leipzig Heart Center in 2009. From 2012 to 2016, she attended the part-time master´s degree program “Clinical Research and Translational Medicine” at the Leipzig University. In 2015, she became Head of the Basic Science Research Laboratory of the University Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Leipzig Heart Center. In 2023, she obtained her "habilitation" at the Medicine Faculty of the Leipzig University.
